For pet enthusiasts, two breeds of dogs just carry them away. These are the Pomsky and Pomeranian dogs. Currently Pomeranian is among the top 15 most popular dog breeds in the United States. Their popularity arises from their physical attributes. It is actually the most popular fashion dog not only in the US but also in the world. Pomsky on the other hand is not a pure breed; it is a cross between Pomeranian and Husky (a powerful and fast sled dog).
The Unique Physical Attributes and Temperament of Pomeranian
As already been alluded to before, Pomeranian is the smallest fashion dogs in the world with a net weight of 1.9-3.5 Kilograms and measure 5-11 inches standing height at the withers. Their unique features are the abundant textured coat, highly set and flat tail and a compact but sturdy stance.
The top coat of the Pomeranian forms a ruff of hair on the back and the neck with a fringe of feathery hair on their hindquarters. This dog breed comes in many different colors depending on the breed because there have been numerous cross breeds. Pomeranian breeders have developed most recently a color that has mottled appearance called merle.
When it comes to temperament, the Pomeranians are very friendly, lively and extremely playful. They enjoy the company of their owners and tend to be very protective of them and because of the bonding they are known to suffer from separation anxiety should they be kept apart from their masters. This dog tends to be temperamental and stubborn especially because they are treated as children by humans.
The Unique Attributes and Temperament of the Pomsky
The Pomsky is a very new breed recently into the market. It is a crossbreed between a Husky and a Pomeranian. This means that the breed has both the attributes of a Husky and a Pomeranian. This means that Pomskies are not that small, have the strength and the eye color of a Husky, and have the fur and the neck coat of a Pomeranian.
In terms of temperament, these dogs are as friendly, loving and playful as the Pomeranian is. They are devoted to their masters and are very protective of them. Unlike the Pomeranians who feel very intimidated because if their size, the Pomskies are not that small and so cannot easily be intimidated. This makes them to have better temperament than their parents. They also come in a variety of color shades depending on the color of the crossed dogs.
